We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to join our team as a Performance Engineering Specialist.

  • Our ideal candidate will have experience in designing and executing performance tests, driving resolution of failures and creating performance measurements.
  • They should be able to dig into code, databases, middleware and vendor software to identify performance bottlenecks and resolve them.
  • The successful candidate will improve the performance environment using their own code, automation and external tools.
  • They will also apply technical ability to coach and develop junior engineers.
  • Delivering presentations and participating in requirements discussion and test planning is also a key part of this role.
  • This position requires strong problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
  • Time/project management, workload prioritization, knowledge sharing and a passion to learn/take on challenges is essential for success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure and execute performance tests
  • Create performance measurements such as requests per second, P95 and P99 response latency, query performance, concurrency and system utilization
  • Dig into Java code, databases, middleware and vendor software to identify performance bottlenecks and resolve them
  • Improve the performance environment with your own code, automation and external tools
  • Apply technical ability to coach and develop junior engineers
  • Deliver department and external presentations

Requirements:

  • Strong software engineering experience writing applications using Java Spring Boot framework
  • Experience debugging performance issues with APM tools (i.e. Dynatrace, Splunk, Jprofiler and JMH)
  • Experience optimizing DB queries in PostgreSQL and Oracle
  • Experience writing jMeter scripts and running in load generation tools (i.e. BlazeMeter)
  • Experience with Payments industry (i.e. ISO 8583 messaging, 4-party model and payment applications)
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
  • Time/project management, workload prioritization, knowledge sharing and a passion to learn/take on challenges
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and listening skills, detail oriented with the ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision
