Backend Engineer Position

At PetYosa, we're developing a cutting-edge AI-powered pet ecosystem. Our goal is to create a trustworthy and enjoyable experience for pet parents and service partners across India.

About the Role

We're seeking a talented Backend Engineer who excels at designing and implementing robust systems. This position involves architecting APIs, ensuring reliability and scalability, and delivering features that users appreciate.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement scalable REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices driving PetYosa's core flows (vet bookings, pet services, orders, payments, telemetry ingestion).
  • Build data models and database schemas (Postgres / Mongo) optimized for performance and operational simplicity.
  • Implement secure authentication, authorization, payments integrations, audit trails, and data handling for medical/health information.
  • Design and operate data ingestion pipelines for devices (telemetry, location, analytics) ensuring durability and near-real-time processing.
  • Implement caching, queueing, and backpressure strategies (Redis, message brokers) to maintain system performance under load.
  • Ship observability tools (structured logs, metrics, traces) and create runbooks for common operational scenarios.
  • Write production-quality tests, CI/CD pipelines, and support release management and incident response.
  • Collaborate closely with product, mobile, AI, and hardware teams to translate product requirements into reliable backend systems.
Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of experience in building production backend systems with Node.js (TypeScript) and frameworks like Express/Nest.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB: schema design, indexing, query optimization.
  • Practical knowledge of caching (Redis) and message queues (Kafka / RabbitMQ / SQS).
  • Cloud experience (GCP or AWS): deploying services, setting up infrastructure, and managing costs.
  • Familiarity with Docker and basic orchestration concepts (Kubernetes experience is a plus).
  • Practical understanding of security best practices: tokens, encryption in transit/at rest, OWASP risks.
  • Track record of owning features end-to-end and shipping in a fast, iterative environment.
  • Clear communicator who can work in an in-office, collaborative team.
