Job Title: Legal Expert

The role of a Legal Officer plays a vital part in upholding the University's legal standards by providing expert counsel, managing lawsuits, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and advising on policy development to safeguard the institution's interests.

This position requires someone with excellent analytical, negotiation, and writing skills, along with outstanding oral and written communication abilities. Knowledge of the local language is essential for effective communication.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice to senior officials to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, and verify legal documents, including Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and standard agreements with external parties.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisors and standing counsels on court matters, preparing responses to grievances and attending court when necessary.
  • Monitor and manage internal legal processes, update existing internal policies, and help formulate and implement new ones.
  • Serve as a member secretary for committees, such as the Committee Against Sexual Harassment, and handle internal disputes from a legal perspective.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution with Bar Council registration.
Key Qualifications:
  • A minimum of six years of experience is required as an advocate or working in the legal department of an organization preferably in the education sector demonstrating hands-on application of legal knowledge.
  • Possesses strong analytical, negotiation, and writing skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. Knowledge of the local language is essential.
