Key Responsibilities:

  • Paint Shop Operations
  • Supervise daily painting activities, ensuring surface preparation, priming, base coat, and top coat application on Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) components meet production schedules.
  • Verify curing and drying parameters align with technical specifications to guarantee quality outcomes.
  • Manage manpower, materials, and equipment effectively to optimize productivity.
  • Quality & Process Control
  • Ensure paint thickness, gloss level, color shade, adhesion, and finish standards are consistently met.
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections and tests (DFT, cross hatch, gloss meter, etc.) to ensure compliance with customer and internal quality norms.
  • Identify surface defects (e.g., pinholes, delamination, orange peel) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of paint batches, daily production logs, and inspection reports.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and paint specifications provided by design and quality teams.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines related to paint and solvent usage.
  • Coordination & Continuous Improvement
  • Coordinate with design, production planning, quality, and stores for timely availability of jigs, fixtures, consumables, and components.
  • Drive lean initiatives, 5S, and Kaizen in the paint shop area to improve efficiency and reduce rework.
  • Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vendors and suppliers to validate and select paint systems suitable for FRP substrates.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in painting FRP or GRP components for the railway/automotive/defense sector.

About this role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Paint Shop Engineer-Composites. As a key member of our paint shop operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective application of paint coatings on FRP components.

As a successful candidate, you will possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure. You will also have experience in paint application, including surface preparation, priming, and coating application.
