Design Engineer Job

As a design engineer, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs and plans for custom millwork projects. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, artistic flair, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

The primary responsibility is to review architectural drawings and specifications to understand the project requirements. After understanding the client's needs, the designer uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D models, including detailed plans, layouts, and renderings.

  • Designing mechanical millwork projects, including casework, cabinetry joinery techniques, and other custom woodwork.
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers to develop detailed and accurate mechanical millwork designs.
  • Creating 3D models and generating 2D drawings using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Conducting site visits to take measurements and gather information needed for design development.
  • Preparing material and hardware selection and producing accurate bills of materials.
  • Optimizing designs for functionality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Creating production documents, including shop drawings, fabrication plans, and installation instructions.
  • Reviewing and modifying designs based on feedback from team members, clients, and quality control inspections.
  • Collaborating with the production team to address design-related issues during fabrication and installation.
  • Staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new materials to enhance design capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • AutoCAD expertise and ability to work on architectural and furniture drawings.
  • Hands-on experience in panel optimization and production process management.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP, ERP tools, and 2020 Design Software for furniture design.
