Job Description:

  • Prepare and submit tax submissions, respond to notices and appeals, and meet with tax authorities.
  • Assist clients in responding to the department during enquiries, investigations, and audits.
  • Prepare replies to show cause notices and audit replies.
  • Meet with tax officers for hearings as required.
  • Prepare tax appeals for filing at the Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and Court (Tribunal, High Court/Supreme Court).
  • Assist seniors in representation before judicial forums.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on various topics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute work on multiple client base with near independent responsibility for smaller clients.
  • Develop rapport with middle layers of client management.

Client Service Delivery:

  • Identify and discuss technical issues with clients while ensuring firm risk issues are considered.

Commercial Acumen:

  • Stay updated on firm-wide and competitor activities, as well as general business trends.
  • Apply knowledge to deliver solutions to clients and bring value to them and managers.

Networking and Opportunity Identification:

  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate with seniors.
  • Network internally to gain understanding of issues impacting clients.

Strong Knowledge Base:

  • Stay abreast with latest developments in tax and other laws.
  • Contribute to firm's knowledge management activities.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Strong analytical and researching skills.
  • Proactive, reliable and detail-oriented.

Experience and Education:

  • Law graduate from a recognized law school with strong academic record.
  • 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in indirect tax (GST, Customs, etc.) is preferred.
