Business Risk Manager Job Description

At the heart of every successful organisation lies a team that can mitigate risk, ensuring the continued growth and profitability of its operations. As a Business Risk Manager, you will play a vital role in shaping the operational strategy of our company by identifying potential threats and opportunities for improvement.

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of technical risk management principles and practices. You will work closely with our technology and product teams to analyse their risk profiles, design and implement controls, and perform regular assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Technology and Product Teams: Analyse and understand their risk profile, working collaboratively to identify areas of improvement.
  • Design and Implement Controls: Develop, test, and implement effective controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments within various product and technology teams to provide actionable insights.
  • Incident Management: Proactively manage risks to reduce/limit major incidents, breaches, or non-compliance issues.
  • Reporting: Record, handle, and report on risk incidents, providing timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Insight Delivery: Deliver data-driven risk reports and monitoring metrics (KRIs, BCIs) to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Policies and Guidelines: Drive the effective implementation and communication of operational risk management policies and guidelines.
  • Documentation Review: Review and update ICT-related documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, operations, software, hardware, data flows, change control, etc., and their impact on organisational risk.
  • Familiarity with technology product delivery, Agile, and Kanban methodologies.
  • Ability to adapt messages based on audience and expectations while interacting with stakeholders.
  • Ability to define risk appetite, risk impact, and identify risk likelihood.
  • Ability to quickly assume responsibilities.
  • Prior experience in interpreting and organising complex data.
  • Ability to provide control testing support to stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

  • Data and SQL skills.
  • SOX controls exposure.
