Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Summary

You will be the primary point of contact for Quality with various OEMs and Tier customers in the North region, working closely with them to understand their current, future, and potential Quality requirements and concerns. You will take up these concerns with the CFT to drive resolution through corrective, preventive, or improvement actions.

You will also work with the local supplier base in the region to ensure their quality levels meet our standards.

Your goal will be to enhance customer satisfaction by achieving set customer targets, reducing COPQ, and achieving zero defects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle customer complaints and deploy containment actions to avoid line issues or stoppages.
  • Drive permanent corrective and preventive actions in coordination with the QREs at North and plant teams.
  • Ensure timely closure of CAPA on customer portals.
  • Negotiate and convince customers in case of concerns at the customer end where there is no quality issue from 3M products.
  • Regularly visit customers to maintain the Quality rhythm.
  • Lead rejection and warranty reviews and sign-offs at the customer end.
  • Participate in trials at customer lines for new products and prevent Quality concerns.
  • Provide inputs to CFT and manufacturing plants on new products and customer complaints based on observations at the customer end for necessary corrective or preventive actions.
  • Obtain approval from customers on new product master samples.
  • Facilitate VQA trials and obtain fitment approvals from customers.
  • Drive projects to achieve customer Quality targets and reduce PPM.
  • Coordinate the holding and releasing of stocks and inspection activities for customer complaints and non-conforming materials at warehouses.
  • Periodically visit suppliers and outsourcing vendors to ensure Quality in supplied products.
  • Plan and lead Quality system and process audits at supplier ends and warehouses.
  • Establish and cultivate a network of resources to facilitate the completion of assignments.
  • Participate in project planning and assist in establishing project objectives and priorities.
  • Maintain awareness of Quality and work with regional Technical and sales teams.
  • Lead customer meetings on Quality improvement.
  • Conduct and lead inter-laboratory test method studies.
  • Be productive in suggesting and testing ideas.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in Chemical, Printing Technology, or Mechanical from an accredited university.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Quality assurance in the Automotive Industry.
  • Experience with automotive processes, customer-specific requirements, and management of customer Internet portals and certifications in Quality engineering, Quality audits, or Quality management as per IATF 16949 standard is preferred.
  • Should be an Internal auditor for IATF 16949.
  • Should have hands-on experience in statistical Quality control and be a Six Sigma Black/Green Belt, if desired.
