Job Description

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer to join our team, focusing on power electronics with expertise in closed-loop control and compensator design. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for defining specifications and requirements for product hardware.
  • You will conduct thorough hardware design and firmware control reviews, emphasizing high-level system integration and ensuring the reliability and safety of our products.
  • Your expertise in electrical, environmental, and functional compliance testing will enable us to deliver top-quality products to the market.
  • You will perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to evaluate the reliability of our products and ensure there are no safety or liability concerns related to them.
  • As a Staff Engineer, you will work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to coordinate and track product development milestones.
  • You will oversee Design for Excellence (DFX) updates, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and product life cycle management to ensure seamless product development.
  • In addition, you will mentor junior engineers on design best practices, ensuring that established technical standards are adhered to during product development.
  • To drive future product innovation, you will research new development concepts and identify cost-competitive technological alternatives suitable for scaling up.
  • You will validate design concepts through circuit simulations and prototyping, and prepare comprehensive documentation, including bills of materials, circuit diagrams, simulations, design-related documents, and FMEAs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Power Electronics is preferred, with 8-12 years of experience in the field.
  • You should have a strong understanding of closed-loop control for power converters and compensator design.
  • Experience with high-speed or high-power semiconductor devices, specifically power converter designs over 100kVA and in medium voltage applications, is essential.
  • You should possess solid technical knowledge, competence, and system-level design experience.
  • A proven track record of managing multiple power electronics projects involving analog and digital electronics as well as control circuitry is required.
  • Experience in EMI filter design and product qualification/compliance testing is necessary.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools like SIMULINK is desirable.
  • Skills in derating, FMEA, and reliability analysis are also required.
  • You should have excellent circuit debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience in writing technical documents such as hardware requirements, product design specifications, test specifications, and board-level design details is essential.
  • A strong knowledge of component selection and system integration is necessary.
  • Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written, are required.
  • Experience mentoring small teams with strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to work effectively in an agile product development model is desired.
