Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building backend software for web-based or mobile products, leveraging modern AI tools for efficiency and effectiveness.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with our Product and Data Science teams to design and maintain multiple technologies, including our API backend, credit scoring and underwriting systems, payments integrations, and operations tools.

  • Building out APIs and backend systems for our frontend clients, including our Android mobile app.
  • Integrating with various third-party systems, including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
  • Helping us build new financial products.
  • Scaling our backend services to ever-growing levels of traffic and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing scalable data architectures that integrate disparate data sources.
  • Maintaining complex financial systems and accessing creative data sources for algorithmic credit models.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and decentralized decision-making.

Requirements

  • Strong experience (3-8 years) of building backend software for web-based or mobile products.
  • Experience leveraging modern AI tools for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge of software development fundamentals, including relevant background in computer science fundamentals, distributed systems, data storage, and agile development methodologies.
  • Pragmatic approach combining technology and product needs to arrive at the best solution for a given problem.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to take ownership of impact.
  • Familiarity with toolstack similar to dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Metabase, etc.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language like Python.
