Linux Software Repository Maintainer

The role involves ensuring the integrity and efficiency of software repositories.

An ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Linux, bash scripting, C, and Python, with expertise in compiling and creating software from source code.

Familiarity with build system tools such as autotools, meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons, and CVS/GIT is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the software repository's integrity through updates, upgrades, and patches
  • Compile and create software from source code using GCC and its flags
  • Track software dependencies and patch software as needed
  • Understand and create Makefiles as necessary
  • Monitor and stay current with CVEs
  • Maintain changelogs and other documentation
  • Provide bug fixes and debugging with GDB when required
  • Review changes and connect with upstream developers for solutions when needed
  • Utilize good troubleshooting skills and collaborate with team members as needed

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with Slackware Linux
