Senior Piping Materials Specialist

As a seasoned expert in piping materials, you will be responsible for ensuring the selection and application of appropriate piping materials across various projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Material Classes Management: Develop, maintain, and update corporate piping material classes as required to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Technical Evaluation: Review vendor quotations for technical acceptability, execute and verify calculations (wall thickness, branch reinforcement, vacuum, specialty line blanks), and complete technical bid evaluations for all piping and valve components.
  • Specification Development: Create and maintain piping and valve material specifications utilizing Smart Plant Reference Data, develop component commodity codes for company and project-specific databases based on industry standards, manufacturer-specific construction, and corporate coding structure.
  • Design Specifications: Develop technical, design, and purchasing specifications for bulk piping components, including specialty items as required by project.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients and other disciplines to resolve piping-related issues and ensure seamless project execution.
Requirements:
  • Education: A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university or a professional license in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline from a recognized licensing board.
  • Experience: Broad progressive work experience in design engineering, science, or other relevant types of engineering, such as systems startup, field engineering, or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering/construction firms.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, design criteria pertinent to the discipline, and technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the discipline.
