Lead Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our data engineering efforts. This role involves driving initiatives to develop and continuously improve our data practices, designing and optimizing scalable data projects, and working with modern data platforms to enable data integration, transformation, and analytics.

About the Role

This position will support the design, development, and optimization of large-scale data pipelines, implementing ETL/ELT processes using SQL and modern big data frameworks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with modern unified data platforms, strong proficiency in SQL, and a solid understanding of big data processing concepts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive Initiatives: Develop and implement strategies to drive continuous improvement in data practices
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines for large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
  • ETL/ELT Process Implementation: Implement ETL/ELT processes using SQL and modern big data frameworks
  • Modern Data Platform Enablement: Work with modern data platforms to enable data integration, transformation, and analytics
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with architects and governance leads to ensure data quality, lineage, and compliance
Required Skills & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on leading teams and developing scalable data solutions
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including queries, optimization, and stored procedures
  • Solid understanding of big data processing concepts, including distributed computing, Spark, Kafka, and Delta Lake
  • Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems and modern data platforms
Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Fabric
  • Knowledge of data governance tools and data cataloguing concepts
  • Exposure to DevOps/MLOps practices, including CI/CD, Git, and automation tools
