ServiceNow SAM Consultant Position

We are seeking an experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Developer to provide expertise in ServiceNow SAM Pro to APN Consulting Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and ongoing support of ServiceNow's SAM Pro module to help manage and optimize software licenses, ensure compliance, and minimize software-related risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • SAM Pro Implementation
    • Lead the implementation and configuration of the SAM Pro module on the ServiceNow platform.
    • Define and implement workflows to manage software requests, approvals, and procurement processes.
    • Customize and enhance SAM Pro features such as reclamation rules, compliance reports, and dashboards.
    • Develop and integrate discovery and normalization rules to ensure accurate software asset inventory.
  • License Optimization & Compliance
    • Manage software license lifecycle, including discovery, entitlements, and compliance checks.
    • Configure and maintain license reconciliation and optimization processes to minimize software overspend.
    • Ensure compliance with software license agreements, including tracking software usage and maintaining audit readiness.
  • Integration & Automation
    • Integrate third-party discovery tools and data sources with ServiceNow SAM Pro for enhanced data accuracy.
    • Automate software asset management processes using Flow Designer, business rules, and script includes.
    • Leverage ServiceNow APIs to integrate SAM Pro with external systems (e.g., procurement, financial systems).
  • Reporting & Analytics
    • Develop real-time reports and dashboards for key stakeholders to track software usage, compliance, and optimization metrics.
    • Provide insights into software spend, license utilization, and opportunities for savings.
    • Customize SAM Pro reports and ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance standards.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
    • Collaborate with IT, procurement, and finance teams to ensure effective software license management.
    • Work with vendors and software publishers to negotiate contracts and ensure adherence to license terms.
    • Provide training and documentation for SAM Pro users and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • ServiceNow Experience:
    • Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Pro module.
    • Expertise in SAM Pro configuration, license reconciliation, and optimization.
    • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery and Integration Hub for software asset data collection.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, Business Rules, Script Includes, and other ServiceNow development tools.
    • Experience with REST and SOAP APIs, web services, and data integrations.
    • Knowledge of software licensing models (e.g., per-user, per-device, subscription-based).
  • SAM Pro Features Knowledge:
    • Experience with SAM Pro features such as reclamation rules, normalization, compliance reports, and optimization.
    • Familiarity with software publishers and licensing metrics (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe).
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Ability to analyze software usage data, identify trends, and provide recommendations for software optimization.
    • Experience in developing and maintaining real-time reports and dashboards using ServiceNow Performance Analytics.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications:
    • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – Software Asset Management
    • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
    • ITIL v4 Foundation certification
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience working in a large-scale IT environment.
    • Experience with other ITAM/SAM tools (e.g., Flexera, Snow Software).
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
