Director of Athlete Development

This leadership position ensures a structured, evidence-based pathway from talent identification to elite performance, aligning with the organization's mission to produce world-class athletes.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive athlete development strategy from talent identification through to talent recruitment.
    • Collaborate with marketing teams to create clear marketing campaigns and social media publicity around the organization's opportunities.
    • Actively engage in strategic planning and review processes with the senior leadership team.
  • Athlete Identification and Development:
    • Coordinate and deliver annual athlete identification programs, including multi-stage testing and profiling.
    • Develop sport-specific benchmarking and profiling systems in collaboration with sports scientists.
    • Drive new initiatives such as talent transfer and special scouting projects to fill critical talent gaps.
    • Implement a comprehensive athlete database management system.
  • Program Design and Delivery:
    • Oversee annual planning, marketing, and scheduling of creative athlete identification campaigns.
    • Ensure every athlete is supported throughout any recruitment campaign and all communication is simple and clear to understand.
    • Establish a 'How to' participate in athlete identification and recruitment campaigns through modern video mediums.
    • Develop a payment and reward system for athletes which attracts the best talent while prioritizing an Olympic Medal winning journey over national titles.
  • Staff and Stakeholder Management:
    • Recruit and develop a talent scouting and recruitment team, working alongside the HR department.
    • Lead the athlete development team to build and develop relationships with key stakeholders, club coaches, parents, national federations, and required stakeholders.
  • Data, Review & Insights:
    • Track and monitor athlete talent using real-time performance analytics and regular reviews.
    • Lead program reviews and work to elevate the athlete development process with annual training opportunities for coaches.
    • Use national and international performance trends to inform athlete recruitment strategy, selection, and long-term investments.
  • Education and Welfare Integration:
    • Collaborate with educational pathways teams for athlete welfare and dual career programs.
    • Facilitate induction, transition, and exit processes for athletes entering and exiting the athlete development pathway.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with institutional, national, and international regulatory frameworks, including anti-doping and safeguarding requirements.
    • Prepare program reports, athlete summaries, and budget justifications as required.
