Overview

This is a pivotal position in our database administration team, seeking an experienced professional to lead the planning, implementation, and management of our PostgreSQL systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high-performance PostgreSQL databases, ensuring optimal scalability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex database architectures.
  • Analyze performance metrics and optimize query execution plans to improve database efficiency.
  • Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Provide expert-level technical guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, schema changes, and other critical information.

We are also looking for someone who can handle MySQL responsibilities as a secondary task. This includes:

  • Managing MySQL users, roles, and permissions.
  • Setting up and troubleshooting MySQL replication.

Key Skills and Qualifications

PostgreSQL Skills
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and tuning.
  • Strong expertise with HA and replication solutions (Patroni, repmgr).
  • Familiarity with connection pooling and proxy tools (PgBouncer, HAProxy).
  • Hands-on experience with PITR, disaster recovery, and cluster rebuilds.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and automation.
  • Solid understanding of database security and compliance best practices.
Additional Skills
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar).
  • Knowledge of cloud-managed PostgreSQL services.
  • Familiarity with AWS PostgreSQL services like RDS and Aurora.
