System Design Engineer Job Description

As a System Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing control sub-systems that meet the functional requirements of gas turbine products. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze and translate product requirements into validated functional requirements for the control sub-systems.

  • Analyze and validate functional requirements for control sub-systems.
  • Capture design constraints and quality attributes that apply to the system.
  • Design control sub-systems to meet functional requirements and design constraints.
  • Analyze functional behavior through modeling and simulation to demonstrate compliance with functional requirements.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to understand hardware component capabilities and facilitate effective requirements specification.
  • Present designs at review gates and obtain agreement from senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure robust designs and problem solutions through the effective application of engineering tools and processes.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of engine and airframe interfaces, engine component technology, and behavior during normal and abnormal operation.
  • Understanding of verification vehicles, controls sub-system design, system architecture, software, and/or hardware architecture.
  • Ability to interpret test results and provide informed opinions or conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks to completion and ensure relevant areas of the engineering team are consulted/informed.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Appreciation of aerospace industry standards and working practices (ARP4754A, ARP4761 etc).
