Oracle Database Administrator Job Overview

This role involves overseeing the administration, optimization, and security of Oracle databases in a global leader's SAP landscape.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Oracle database technologies, high availability architecture, and SAP-Oracle integration or collaboration with SAP Basis teams.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle DBA to lead database initiatives such as cloud adoption, consolidation, and disaster recovery planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot multiple Oracle databases in production, development, and QA environments.
  • Perform installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
  • Optimize database performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and advanced tuning techniques.
  • Manage high availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Implement and test robust backup/recovery strategies.
  • Automate administrative tasks and reporting using shell scripting, PL/SQL, or Python.
  • Collaborate with SAP Basis team to support SAP systems using Oracle, including performance tuning and backup coordination.
  • Ensure database compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in large-scale, enterprise-grade environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN.
  • Performance tuning (SQL, instance-level).
  • Backup/recovery and storage management.
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments, scripting, and automation.
  • Experience in both on-prem and cloud-based Oracle DB setups.
Desirable / Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAP environment experience.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems using Oracle (ECC, BW, PI, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of how Oracle integrates with SAP NetWeaver architecture.
  • Ability to support SAP Basis teams in database-related operations.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
  • Experience with Oracle on OCI / AWS RDS / Azure.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
  • Effective communication and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership experience in database projects and mentorship of junior DBAs.
  • Proactive, process-oriented mindset with strong documentation habits.
