Senior Network Engineer Job Title

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to lead and manage our network-related tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field with 8-12 years of experience.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Upgrade network infrastructure by replacing legacy telecommunication equipment and time division multiplexing (TDM) era technology.
  2. Apply networking principles to assess the type of networking equipment needed on-site to support the site's needs.
  3. Design functions include assessing what networking components are necessary, detailing and drafting designs, developing scope of work for installs, assembling part/equipment bill of material (BOM) requests, and supporting design discussions.
  4. Create high-level and detailed designs for complex utility grid networks.
  5. Make network solutions more resilient using good network protocols and protection scenarios.
  6. Prepare configuration for MPLS, Switches, Routers, SONET, etc.
  7. Analyze existing grid networks and prepare cutover package solutions for channel migration from TDM to packet.
  8. Prepare network block diagrams in detail, considering new installations, removal of old equipment, Fiber plans, channel plans, synchronization plans, circuit audits, network topology drawings, DC calculations, Panel elevations, QoS values, etc.
  9. Maintain documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including design revisions, change management, preliminary, construction till as-built, and record transmittals with clients.
  10. Ensure effective communication with cross-functional project stakeholders, teams, and counterparts.
  11. Meet project milestones on time through action planning.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (EXTC).
  • 8-12 years of experience in telecommunication engineering or network engineering.
  • Utility network experience is an added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with reputable MPLS devices.
  • Knowledge of QoS, Label engineering, MPLS services, PTP synchronization, circuit emulation, packet network architecture, resilient protection scenarios.
  • Microsoft Visio, Excel, and Word experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with Teleprotection couplers in the utility grid.
  • Knowledge of different IP Networking protocols for routing and switching.
  • Legacy Telecommunications Technology (TDM, SONET, serial communication).
  • Network Transport Technology (DWDM, Microwave, etc.).
  • Modern Networking Technology (MPLS packet networking - MPLS-TP, MPLS-IP).
Desired Skills / Experience:
  • Technical Certification by Nokia, Cisco, or other reputable networking certification entity.
  • Experience, certifications, or formal education in networking, computing, or electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with Firewall usage, different applications in OT networking.
  • Familiarity with electric utility SCADA or Operational Technology (OT).
