
Learning Leader in Clinical Drug Development

The Director of Clinical Development Learning will lead the creation of an integrated learning strategy that drives functional capability and skill development in clinical drug development.
This role requires a deep understanding of clinical drug development, Good Clinical Practices, and end-to-end clinical processes as well as expertise in adult education theory and practice.
The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset to support analysis and planning of both clearly defined and ambiguous needs, and be able to proactively seek stakeholder input and adaptation to change.
This is a high-level leadership role that requires strong project management and organizational skills, excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
The Director of Clinical Development Learning will be responsible for leading and overseeing a team that delivers a complex learning portfolio for a matrix structure of key roles and drives aligned, impactful capability development initiatives.
The role will involve building and sustaining key relationships with business leaders, decision makers, and stakeholders to understand business needs, priorities, and impact measures and driving stakeholder satisfaction by proactively managing business relationships and delivering the best learner experience, quality of learning solutions, and measures of business impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead partnerships with senior leaders, key stakeholders, and enterprise Centers of Excellence to create an integrated learning strategy
- Proactively sense and synthesize learning needs from various sources or contexts
- Lead and oversee a team that delivers a complex learning portfolio for a matrix structure of key roles
- Build and sustain key relationships with business leaders, decision makers, and stakeholders
- Drive stakeholder satisfaction by proactively managing business relationships and delivering the best learner experience
- Provide thought leadership and be viewed as a strategic thought partner to internal stakeholders on learning and development best practices, trends, and strategies
- Leverage both drug development and learning industry trends and best practices to ensure continuous improvement of impactful learning deliverables
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (pharmaceutical sciences, biology, or related discipline)
- 15+ years experience within pharmaceutical industry, Good Clinical Practices environment, and associated learning requirements
- 10+ years building and leading high-functioning learning and development teams
- Demonstrated leadership skills; decision maker, effective problem solver; strategic thinker
- Expert knowledge of adult education theory and practice
