Job Title: Kafka Cluster Engineer

About the Role:

  • We are seeking an experienced Kafka Cluster Engineer to join our team.
  • Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and maintain scalable and highly available Apache Kafka clusters.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring cluster health, performance, and capacity planning to ensure optimal system utilization.
  • In this role, you will also manage topics, partitions, brokers, consumer groups, and access control policies.
  • You will perform troubleshooting, log analysis, and root cause investigation of Kafka-related issues.
  • To ensure high availability, reliability, and security of the Kafka environment, you will implement backup and recovery processes.
  • Automate deployment and monitoring processes using scripts or tools.
  • Collaborate with development, cloud, and DevOps teams to integrate Kafka with applications.
  • Optimize Kafka performance for large-scale data streaming and real-time analytics.

Key Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in Kafka Administration and support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka ecosystem (Zookeeper, Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Kafka Streams).
  • Cloud knowledge: Azure or AWS (experience in managing Kafka clusters on cloud platforms like Confluent Cloud, MSK, or HDInsight).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix system administration and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Good understanding of networking, security, and performance tuning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines).
