Job Title: Intellectual Property Specialist

About this role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Intellectual Property Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice on intellectual property matters, with a focus on pharmaceuticals and chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Intellectual Property Management: Provide strategic guidance on the development, protection, and enforcement of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Patent Search and Analysis: Conduct thorough searches and analyses of patent databases to identify potential infringement risks and opportunities for innovation.
  • Liaison with Stakeholders: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, legal, and marketing, to ensure alignment on intellectual property strategies and objectives.
  • Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of intellectual property laws, regulations, and industry trends, and share knowledge with colleagues through training and mentorship programs.

Requirements:
  • Education: Postgraduate degree in a relevant field, such as pharmacy or pharmaceutical chemistry.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an intellectual property-patent function, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Skills: Excellent technical knowledge of medicinal and organic chemistry, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • STN/SciFinder Database Experience: Proficiency in using STN/SciFinder databases for substance reaction searches and patent analysis.
  • XRPD, DSC, TGA Interpretation: Strong understanding and experience in interpreting X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetry (TGA) data.
  • Emerging Markets Experience: Experience working in emerging markets for API IP assessment in a pharma/API company.
