Job Title: Data Modeller

This is a 6 month contract plus extension opportunity to work as a data modeller. The role involves designing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business requirements and technical specifications.

You will be responsible for building efficient star and snowflake schemas for analytical and reporting use cases, applying normalization and denormalization techniques to optimize data structures for various workloads, and managing snowflake schemas and objects including secure and materialized views, streams and tasks, time travel and cloning, and performance tuning strategies.

You will also be required to write and optimize complex sql queries using window functions, common table expressions (ctes), and other advanced features, automate and optimize data transformation pipelines and data model deployments using scripting or orchestration tools, and collaborate with data engineers, bi developers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into scalable models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Build efficient star and snowflake schemas for analytical and reporting use cases.
  • Apply normalization and denormalization techniques to optimize data structures for various workloads.
  • Design and manage snowflake schemas and objects.
  • Write and optimize complex sql queries.
  • Automate and optimize data transformation pipelines and data model deployments.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in data modelling across large data environments.
  • Proven expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical modeling techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of snowflake architecture and features.
  • Deep understanding of sql and query performance optimization.
  • Experience with automation and scripting for data workflows.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data modeling tools (e.g., er/studio, erwin, dbt, sql dbm).
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms like aws, azure, or gcp.
  • Knowledge of ci/cd for data pipeline deployments.
