As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for owning the mechanical architecture of our instrument. This includes designing a compact vacuum chamber, precise motion stage, serviceable enclosure, and safety interlocks that make the instrument fast from sample-load to image.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design for Speed and Reliability: Develop systems that prioritize speed, stability, and serviceability, ensuring quick specimen exchange, accurate and repeatable motion, clean routing, and easy field-replaceable swaps.
  • Develop Assembly and Test Playbooks: Create detailed documents outlining fixtures, torque specs, metrology checks, and test procedures to drive prototype builds to pilot production.
  • Qualify Suppliers: Partner with India-based and global suppliers to improve yield and finish quality, qualifying them through rigorous testing and evaluation.
  • Lead System-Level Integration: Balance optics, electronics, thermal, acoustic, and safety needs, driving system-level integration to deliver a high-performance instrument.
Requirements:
  • Strong Mechanical Engineering Background: Proven expertise in mechanical design, including experience with precision motion, vacuum chambers, and enclosures.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify key issues, and develop effective solutions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong teamwork and communication skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and continually update knowledge and skills to stay current with industry developments.
