Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lead Research Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of firmware for wireless sensor networks (WSN), with a focus on energy efficiency, security, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ARM processors, RTOS, and wireless protocols, with experience in developing secure communication layers and low-power WSN systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of firmware for WSN, focusing on energy efficiency, security, and scalability.
  • Architect and implement communication protocols such as 6LoWPAN, Zigbee, Thread, and other IEEE 802.15.4-based technologies.
  • Develop and optimize bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware for ARM processors, handling both analog and digital signal acquisition and control.
  • Proven work experience in Micro processor / Controllers such as stm32mp15, TI- AM series, Msp 430, cc1352r1, etc.
  • Write and debug Linux device drivers and develop application software for embedded Linux environments.
  • Design and implement secure communication layers in WSN using protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, UDP, TCP, HTTPS, and SSL.
  • Lead firmware development for low-power and energy-efficient wireless systems, ensuring optimal performance under constrained resources.
  • Develop and maintain device trees (DTS) for microprocessors, ensuring proper hardware abstraction and integration.
  • Interface with hardware through communication protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, RS485, Ethernet, CAN, Modbus, and 1-Wire.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, system architects, and application developers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers, reviewing their code and guiding their professional growth.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies in RTOS, wireless protocols, and embedded systems.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of industrial experience in firmware development, embedded systems, or a related field.
  • Expertise in ARM processors, including bare-metal coding, kernel development, and debugging.
  • Extensive experience with 6LoWPAN, and familiarity with other IEEE 802.15.4 protocols like ZigBee and Thread.
  • Strong experience in developing security layers for wireless sensor networks (WSN).
  • Proven track record in low-power, energy-efficient WSN development.
  • Proficiency with RTOS such as Contiki, Contiki-Ng, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, and similar real-time operating systems.
  • Experience in Linux internals, embedded Linux, and developing Linux device drivers.
  • Strong expertise in communication protocols like I2C, UART, SPI, RS485, Ethernet, CAN, Modbus, 1-Wire.
  • Knowledge of IEEE 802.11 protocols such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is a plus.
  • Proficiency in C and Embedded C programming languages, with a deep understanding of firmware development processes.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols (Eg: MQTT, CoAP, UDP, TCP) and security protocols (Eg SSL, HTTPS).
  • B Tech/MS in EEE, CS, Embedded Systems, or other relevant fields.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Linux kernel development and device tree configurations.
  • Expertise in wireless networking protocols, particularly for industrial IoT applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to debug complex firmware and hardware issues.
  • Effective leadership skills and experience in managing and mentoring teams of engineers.
