Aerostructure Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Aerostructure Design Engineer to join our team.

  • This role is responsible for designing and developing aerostructures to support the research and development of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating new designs from scratch or re-designing existing products, taking them through all stages of design, development, testing, and finally handing them over to production.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Conceptualize and develop designs for various aerostructure components, such as wings, fuselage, tail, landing gear, mechanical systems, thermal management, actuation mechanisms, etc.
  2. Prepare detailed drawings and engineering data for manufacturing and quality inspection.
  3. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, and manufacturing, to develop and integrate systems.
  4. Identify and propose design solutions for new components or modifications to existing ones, considering factors like cost, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  5. Ensure designs meet safety regulations and industry standards, such as CEMILAC / DGCA/MIL, etc.
  6. Participate in design reviews and provide technical reports to stakeholders.
  7. Manage configuration of aircraft structures.
  8. Support the design, development, and testing of rigs and prototypes.
  9. Develop best practices using standardized technology/process/tool choices to continuously improve reliability, predictability, and usability.
  10. Mentor junior team members technically.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Strong experience with aerostructure design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in a Design Engineer role.
  • Preferably experienced in Aerospace/UAS.
  • Familiarity with aerospace CAD software tools, such as CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and PLM tools like Windchill, Enovia, Teamcenter.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and standards in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to perform hand calculations based on functional requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Experience with metallic, composite, and plastic materials.
