Role: AS400/RPG Lead Developer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in IBM i / AS/400 platform, specifically RPG IV / RPG Free Format, CLLE, and ILE concepts.
  • Strong command of RPG programming languages.
  • Experience working with OMS, Inventory, WMS, and PO modules.
  • In-depth understanding of DB2/400 – physical/logical files, SQL, journaling, triggers.
  • Strong debugging skills using STRDBG, job logs, and error analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with batch jobs, interactive screens, menus, and subfiles.
  • Familiarity with file-based integrations and data exchange formats (EDI, XML, CSV).
  • Experience with Change Management tools (Aldon, Turnover, Rocket, etc.).
  • Understanding of business workflows in the supply chain or retail domain.
  • Knowledge of API development on IBM i using Open Access or web services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
  • 12 - 20 years of experience on IBM i / AS/400 platform.
  • Background in the retail domain.
  • Ability to develop projects in a modular fashion and encourage re-use of code.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Possibility to participate in code reviews.
  • Effective communication and client interaction skills.
