Power System Studies and Substation Design

The successful candidate will lead power system studies for steady-state, dynamic, and transient conditions. This involves conducting load flow, short circuit, stability, and protection coordination analyses using tools such as PSCAD, EMTP-RV, or RTDS.

A key responsibility of this role is to develop models for inverters, FACTS devices, HVDC systems, and protection schemes. These models are essential for analyzing grid code compliance and integrating renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and BESS into the grid.

As a Senior Engineer Electrical, you will collaborate with utilities, developers, and OEMs to interpret study results and recommend mitigation strategies. Additionally, you will lead the design of high-voltage substations (up to 765 kV), including layout, equipment selection, and protection/control systems.

Key qualifications for this position include a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering and 9+ years of relevant experience in T&D or renewable energy sectors. You should be proficient in tools such as ETAP, WinIGS, Dig SILENT, Easy Power, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, or AutoCAD/E3D for substation design. A strong understanding of grid codes, excellent communication skills, and leadership abilities are also essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct power system studies for steady-state, dynamic, and transient conditions.

  • Ensure compliance with CSA, IEC, IEEE, and utility-specific standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in T&D or renewable energy sectors.
  • Proficiency in tools such as ETAP, WinIGS, Dig SILENT, Easy Power, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, or AutoCAD/E3D for substation design.
  • Strong understanding of grid codes.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities.
