Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mobile Technical Lead to lead our mobile team.

This role combines hands-on technical contribution with people leadership, managing a remote team of three engineers while taking ownership of the systems behind our Mobile App and Point of Sale software.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving architectural solutions collaboratively with their team and engineering leadership, writing production code regularly as a core contributor, and owning operational excellence for their team's systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of 3 software engineers, identifying skill gaps, managing personal development plans, and fostering a positive culture of learning, ownership, and psychological safety.
  • Partnering closely with product managers as joint owners of product success, contributing technical and delivery insight to shape what gets built.
  • Driving pace and delivery in a product-driven company, working on complex features within mobile apps, and navigating between detail and broader context.
  • Using written and verbal communication skills to move from conversations with non-technical stakeholders to reframing projects into detailed designs requirements for their engineering team.

Requirements:

  • A track record of driving pace and delivery in product-driven companies.
  • Experience working on complex features within mobile apps, used at scale or mission critical to customers.
  • Strong self-learning drive and actively using generative AI tools.
  • Prior experience with React Native is highly valued, and experience with payment or mobile banking solutions is a plus.

Our mobile team develops and scales customer-facing mobile applications that empower Australian businesses (soon international). The team works with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and others to build and enhance the Mobile App and Point of Sale products.
