Mechanical Design Engineer

Description:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Electrification team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative inverter systems and sub-assemblies.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead the mechanical design of inverter assemblies and components from concept through to production. This includes applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure design intent and manufacturability.

You will conduct creepage and clearance analysis in compliance with high-voltage safety standards and perform tolerance stack-up analysis to validate design robustness.

Additionally, you will create and manage detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using advanced CAD tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, thermal, and manufacturing engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design of inverter assemblies and components from concept through to production.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure design intent and manufacturability.
  • Conduct creepage and clearance analysis in compliance with high-voltage safety standards.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to validate design robustness.
  • Create and manage detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using advanced CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, thermal, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Support design reviews, DFMEAs, and validation planning.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in mechanical design of inverter systems or similar high-voltage power electronics.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, creepage and clearance, and tolerance analysis.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software and understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for assembly.
  • Experience working in an automotive or high-voltage environment is highly desirable.
