Job Title: Business Development Lead – Parametric Insurance
We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial professional to drive growth in our Parametric Insurance vertical. This role is ideal for a candidate with a proven track record in building sales from the ground up, strong industry relationships, and deep knowledge of parametric risk solutions.
This individual will lead strategic initiatives, build new markets, and drive sustainable revenue, especially in climate-sensitive and underserved segments.
The key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing the go-to-market (GTM) strategy for the Parametric Insurance vertical.
- Building the entire sales function from scratch — from prospecting to closure.
- Identifying and converting new business opportunities, customer segments, and revenue streams.
- Developing and managing a robust sales pipeline and ensuring consistent deal closures.
- Forging and managing partnerships with insurers, reinsurance firms, agri-input companies, NBFCs, cooperatives, and government agencies.
- Generating, qualifying, and nurturing leads while tailoring sales strategies to parametric product models.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product, actuarial, tech, and operations teams to deliver custom parametric insurance solutions.
- Monitoring market trends, weather and climate risk data, government policy shifts, and competitor offerings.
- Representing the organization at relevant industry forums, conferences, and exhibitions.
- Building and mentoring a lean sales team to scale operations.
- Delivering performance reports, revenue forecasts, and business insights to senior leadership.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Agriculture, Climate Science, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in business development, preferably in parametric or climate-risk insurance, reinsurance, or rural financial services.
- Demonstrated experience in setting up and scaling a sales function from 0 to 100.
- In-depth understanding of parametric insurance products, climate data, and risk triggers.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Willingness to travel extensively, especially to risk-prone or underserved regions.
