Insurance Business Analyst Job Summary

Job Title: Insurance Business Analyst

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across underwriting, claims, policy servicing, and IT to gather and document business requirements.
  • Create detailed as-is and to-be process maps using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or ARIS to visualize workflows and identify inefficiencies.
  • Define and document data flows between systems, ensuring alignment with business rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify gaps between current and desired states and propose actionable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Analysis

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the insurance industry and its processes.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather business requirements.
  • Document and communicate business needs to development teams.

Process Improvement

  • Design and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process maps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation of changes.

Communication

  • Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with process mapping tools (e.g. Visio, Lucidchart, ARIS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in business analysis, preferably in the insurance industry.
