Senior Associate Software Engineer

The Sr Associate Software Engineer will design, develop and maintain software solutions for research scientists. This role involves automating operations, monitoring system health, and responding to incidents to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with the product team, business team, including scientists, and other collaborators.
- Analyze and understand functional and technical requirements of applications, solutions, and systems, translating them into software architecture and design specifications.
- Design, develop, and implement applications and modules, including custom reports, interfaces, and enhancements.
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and other testing strategies to ensure software quality.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standard methodologies.
- Create and maintain documentation on software architecture, design, deployment, disaster recovery, and operations.
- Provide ongoing support and maintenance for applications, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently.
- Bachelor's degree with 4-6 years of experience in Computer Science, IT, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field.
- Proficient in Java or Python, JavaScript UI Framework (e.g., ExtJS, React, or Angular), SQL (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, Databricks).
- Experience with event-based architecture and serverless AWS services (e.g., EventBridge, SQS, Lambda, or ECS), Benchling, Full Stack software development.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (mainly Agile and Scrum), DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams.
- High degree of initiative and self-motivation.
Positions require strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to solving complex problems. Team members must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with colleagues across different departments and locations.
