Academic Dean Position

This role is responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative functions of an institution. The Academic Dean will provide strategic leadership, develop and implement the institution's mission, goals, and priorities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead efforts to align academic, research, and administrative functions with the institution's vision and mission.
  • Oversee curriculum development, evaluation, and improvement.
  • Ensure academic rigor and relevance by maintaining high standards of legal education.
  • Foster a culture of excellence in teaching and support innovative legal pedagogy.
  • Manage faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation.
  • Research & Scholarly Activity:
  • Promote and support legal research in various areas of law.
  • Establish collaborative research opportunities with other academic departments and industry leaders.
  • Seek funding opportunities for research and faculty development.
  • Student Success & Engagement:
  • Provide a supportive environment that ensures student success, retention, and graduation.
  • Advocate for student needs and provide guidance on academic and career development.
  • Support initiatives to enhance employability.
  • Administration & Operations:
  • Oversee administrative functions, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and policies.
  • Work with administration to implement college policies effectively.
  • External Relations & Advocacy:
  • Represent the institution within the university and external communities.
  • Strengthen relationships with alumni, legal practitioners, and industry partners.
  • Promote the institution's reputation and engage with media and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
  • An LLM and PhD from a renowned institution.
  • Strong academic credentials and scholarly work history.
  • Experience:
  • At least 15 years of leadership experience in legal education or academic administration.
  • A demonstrated track record of success in academic and administrative roles in higher education.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Exceptional leadership skills with ability to inspire, motivate, and manage faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong organizational, financial, and strategic planning skills.
  • Knowledge of legal trends and policy, including accreditation standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills.

  • Experience with fundraising and grant writing.
  • A history of significant contributions to the legal profession.
  • Familiarity with innovative legal education practices.
