About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Tax Analyst I to join our Withholding Tax team at Amazon, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, self-motivated, and professional, with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for customer service. As a Tax Analyst I, you will ensure tax documentation is in order, understand withholding tax requirements, and report timely to tax authorities.

You will also be responsible for answering tax-related questions, resolving business customer issues, and exercising good judgment to escalate issues upward throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with internal business partners by serving as the Tax liaison for general inquiries, communication of project/process initiatives, and plans of action.
  • Review tax identity information for compliance.
  • Collaborate with product management and technology teams to develop tech solutions ensuring customer delight.
  • Prepare materials needed for yearly tax filings and tax audit requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with both internal and external teams and customers.
  • Leverage end-to-end process knowledge, including systems and portals.
  • Serve as the Tax compliance resource on global Tax projects, including collaboration with core project teams, coordination of tax requirements, process generation, etc.
  • Define key metrics and create metrics reports and set up reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with coworkers to increase productivity by eliminating duplication and coordinating information requirements, driving process improvement initiatives to reduce manual efforts.
  • Effectively resolve and escalate issues, demonstrating an excellent record of delivery.
About the Team

The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. The mission of the Global Withholding team is to timely, accurately, and efficiently report taxes to tax authorities globally.

Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on location and experience.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and commerce (B. Com)
  • Knowledge of Excel at an advanced level
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Knowledge of withholding taxes for US or NON US region
  • Exemplary relationship-building skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to relate processes and associated technical aspects to business partners in straightforward fashion.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent drafting skills to be able to communicate complex tax ideas & issues to business groups.
