The role of the Learning Support Specialist is a vital part of our student experience.

This full-time remote position requires industry experience, demonstrated knowledge of the course subject area, and strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have proven experience as a data engineer and/or data scientist, excellent time management skills, and a desire to work in a fast-paced educational tech environment.

  • Monitor and respond to all student inquiries via the learning management system within 24 hours or less
  • Rely on industry knowledge to guide students through complex assignments and questions
  • Provide prompt feedback that includes pointed questions to help students build problem-solving skills
  • Work with students who are new to the subject matter as well as those with experience
  • Suggest course improvements to enhance content clarity, accuracy, and effectiveness
  • Communicate and collaborate with the team to solve unexpected course challenges

  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner

  • Collaborate with the team to improve course content and delivery

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of extensive work experience in data engineering, data science, or data analytics
  • Professional and/or academic experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, and GitHub
  • Experience using data visualization tools like Tableau
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure
  • Advanced academic background in mathematics, particularly statistics, calculus, and linear algebra
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to listen effectively and respond appropriately
  • Experience using Canvas or other related learning management systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Slack and Teams as communication tools
  • Experience working with support/service software or ticketing systems
  • Experience with bug tracking and feedback tools
