Enterprise Storage Lead Job Summary

This role is responsible for managing and overseeing enterprise storage infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and resilient storage solutions.

The Enterprise Storage Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of storage systems with application and cybersecurity teams. This includes leading daily operations of storage platforms, ensuring uptime, reliability, and capacity planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Storage Architecture & Design:
    • Develop and implement scalable storage solutions that align with current and future business needs.
    • Collaborate with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to ensure integrated solutions.
    • Design and implement backup, archiving, and retention strategies to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Cloud & Hybrid Storage:
    • Manage and optimize hybrid and cloud storage platforms to ensure consistency, availability, and compliance.
    • Oversee data migrations, integrations, and lifecycle policies in cloud-based environments.
    • Ensure security and compliance across multi-cloud and on-prem deployments.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Implement robust storage-level security measures including encryption, access control, audit logging, and anomaly detection.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as GDPR, SOX, ISO 27001, and data integrity standards.
    • Partner with Quality/Regulatory teams for audits, inspections, and documentation readiness.
  • Industry-Specific (Pharma & Life Sciences Focus):
    • Support regulated systems such as LIMS, MES, ERP, QMS, and clinical applications.
    • Ensure secure data handling across R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing domains.
    • Manage high-performance computing (HPC) storage for genomics or bioinformatics data.
  • Governance & Vendor Management:
    • Define and enforce storage governance policies and SLAs.
    • Manage vendors for hardware, software, and cloud storage, including contract and SLA negotiations.
  • Disaster Recovery & Resiliency:
    • Develop and test storage resiliency, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
    • Ensure systems meet RTO/RPO targets and business continuity plans are in place.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise storage systems.
    • In-depth understanding of storage protocols and data protection strategies.
    • Familiarity with hybrid and cloud storage solutions.
    • Experience implementing compliance frameworks in storage environments.
    • Solid grasp of ITIL practices, risk management, and governance frameworks.
    • Experience with scripting and automation tools is a plus.
    Certifications:
    • NetApp Certified, Dell EMC Proven Professional, HPE ASE/MASE, Pure Storage Certification.
    • ITIL Foundation or Intermediate.
    • Project Management (PMP/Prince2) is a plus.
    • Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure) are desirable.
    Experience:

15+ years in enterprise storage management, 8+ years in a leadership or team lead capacity.
