Backend Engineer for AI-Driven Features

About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned Backend Engineer to craft backend services that bring AI-powered user experiences to life at scale. This role is perfect for someone passionate about building robust backend systems and excited to collaborate with ML engineers and product teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, building, and deploying production-ready APIs, as well as integrating machine learning models into backend infrastructure. Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) is also essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build robust backend services in Python using FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
  • Integrate machine learning models into production APIs and pipelines for recommendations and personalization.
  • Collaborate closely with ML engineers and product teams to deliver AI-driven features.
  • Develop low-latency APIs for serving recommendations and intelligent results.
  • Work with vector databases (Qdrant, Pinecone, Elasticsearch) to power similarity search and embeddings.
  • Deploy, monitor, and scale services in cloud environments.
  • Contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and design decisions.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines with strong testing and code quality practices.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems.
  • Proven track record of building and deploying production-ready APIs.
  • Experience integrating ML models or AI services into backend infrastructure.
  • Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms and DevOps tools.
  • Database expertise: SQL and NoSQL.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote team settings.

Nice to Have (Bonus Skills):

  • Experience with recommendation systems or personalization pipelines.
  • Familiarity with vector databases and embedding-based search.
  • Frontend integration knowledge.
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing ML-powered production systems.
