About this position:

  • Optimize the performance of our Elasticsearch and Splunk clusters to identify potential issues.
  • Plan modifications for high-load events, apply security patches, and perform incremental updates.
  • Enhance and improve our monitoring and alert infrastructure.

As a key member of our team, you will be involved in maintaining other parts of the data pipeline, including server-less or server-based systems for feeding data into the Elasticsearch pipeline.

  • We continually optimize our cost-vs-performance balance by testing new types of hosts or configurations.
  • We use declarative tools like Puppet and various scripting mechanisms depending on the target environment.
  • We aim to automate as much as possible and strive for a 'build once/run everywhere' system.

This is an opportunity to work with various types of infrastructure and operations teams.

  • We have Elasticsearch clusters in public cloud, Kubernetes clusters, and private datacenter environments.
  • Built long-lasting partnerships across the organization to foster collaboration between Product, Engineering, and Operations teams.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to escalated issues as needed.

The ideal candidate has expertise in administration and management of Elasticsearch clusters and experience with provisioning and configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, Rundeck, etc.

  • Experience with automation and infrastructure as code using Terraform, Packer, or CloudFormation templates.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, Prometheus, PagerDuty, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, Perl, etc.
  • CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Pipelines, Artifactory, etc.

Key qualifications:

  • Expertise in Elasticsearch administration and management.
  • Experience with provisioning and configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, Rundeck, etc.
  • Experience with automation and infrastructure as code using Terraform, Packer, or CloudFormation templates.
