Backend Software Engineer Opportunity

The Platform Product Group engineers at Coinbase are responsible for building a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform that operates with speed, efficiency, and quality. Our teams work together to create a seamless user experience, ensuring that our customers can buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies with ease.

You'll be part of the FinHub team, which focuses on creating a platform for financial data. This involves architecting and developing systems that provide accurate and timely financial information, helping us improve accounting and finance activities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and build scalable platforms for financial data, ensuring they meet the needs of our customers.
  2. Provide technical guidance and expertise to teams, working closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
  3. Mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and skills to set a high standard for code quality and software engineering processes.
  4. Write high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer needs, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
  5. Collaborate with technical leadership to plan and implement a multi-year strategy for Finhub engineering, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  6. Engage with upstream teams, enforcing SLAs for data availability and quality, and add positive energy to every meeting, making coworkers feel included.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ Years of Experience: Proven track record in software engineering, with a strong background in architecting big data systems using technologies like Apache Spark and Hive.
  • Big Data Expertise: 2+ years of experience in designing and building large-scale data systems, with a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed computing.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience in mentoring and training junior engineers, with a strong ability to set high standards and foster an environment that creates high-quality code and software engineering processes.
  • Passion for Blockchain: A genuine passion for blockchain technology and its potential to transform the financial system, with a desire to contribute to the growth and development of this field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in languages such as Golang, Python, Java, and C++, with experience in integrating with NetSuite APIs, developing financial tools, and transforming business/product data to accounting/financial domains.
  • Nice to Have: Familiarity with Golang, gRPC, Docker, SnowFlake, Databricks, and advanced SQL, as well as experience working with finance and accounting teams, performance tuning of big data systems, Kyriba integration, and fintech domain.
