Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned leader to oversee our application development projects and software engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of managing cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery of projects on budget, and fostering collaboration among team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement application development standards, processes, and tools
  • Foster consistency of service delivery across client groups through collaboration with direct reports
  • Implement standard tools and processes for both waterfall and agile development
  • Estimate tool usage for small and large projects while maintaining flexibility
  • Deploy standard tools and processes to ensure adherence to defined application development processes
  • Communicate policy changes affecting service providers and/or Marriott operations to Application Development leaders

Managing Day-To-Day Relationships with Teams:

  • Collaborate with IT teams, business partners, and providers to manage application development projects
  • Provide project management of business projects
  • Oversee effective reporting within the application development team
  • Lead project reviews with the team on application development projects
  • Build strong relationships with all IT teams to promote the delivery of services meeting or exceeding client expectations

Work with Application Development Service Providers:

  • Validate that service providers perform agreed-upon services as per the master services agreement
  • Collaborate with the team to progress service providers' services to match client needs
  • Facilitate compliance with the agreement among team members and service providers
  • Ensure service levels meet business requirements

Skill and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in application development leadership, including technical roles in architecture development, backend systems integration, and development
  • In-depth knowledge of integration approaches and architectures
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native solutions, microservices-architecture, and API orchestration architecture
  • Experience with Java, NoSQL, Spring boot, WebFlux, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, logging, metrics, monitoring, tracing, service mesh, LTM, GTM, SEO
  • Strong understanding of API platforms, back-end services, databases, and networking components of full-stack infrastructure
  • Direct management experience of cross-functional, sourced, or matrixed teams
  • Demonstrated success in leading medium- to large-scale initiatives/transformations
  • Proven management experience in strategic planning and budgeting within one or more business groups
