Job Title: Mainframe Storage System Engineer

As a Mainframe Storage System Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation and efficiency of our mainframe storage infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain mainframe storage subsystems to guarantee compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive storage capacity planning strategies to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor storage performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing data placement.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery and data replication solutions for mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for storage administration tasks.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams and end-users, troubleshooting and resolving storage-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage networking protocols and technologies, such as FICON, Fibre Channel, and SCSI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Technical V2 or equivalent certification in mainframe storage administration.
  • 5+ years of experience with mainframe virtualization technologies such as z/VM and z/Linux.
  • 4+ years of experience utilizing DevOps practices and tools for mainframe storage administration and automation.
