Job Description


The Database Reliability Engineering (DRE) team at Warner Bros. Discovery owns the global, cloud-native (AWS) database infrastructure for the Max and HBO Max platforms. We are not a traditional team of on-prem DBAs, but rather a group of engineers who combine deep knowledge of databases with cloud automation expertise.



Roles & Responsibilities:



  • Play a leadership role in your area and contribute significantly to team planning.
  • Develop and maintain multiple high-performance, stable, scalable systems that have been successfully shipped to customers in production.
  • Partner with SRE and service team engineers to devise database solutions that satisfy service team needs.
  • Contribute to building a vibrant workplace where teams can thrive and model our organization's positive, supportive culture of respect and excellence.


Required Skills and Qualifications



  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience and technical leadership with cloud-native database technologies in a production environment and familiarity with AWS database services (Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Keyspaces).
  • 2+ years of experience working in public or private cloud environments, with a preference for AWS.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, repeatable self-serve gitops-based deployments, and infrastructure-as-code technologies (CloudFormation, Terraform) and processes.
  • Familiarity with elements of our greater service tech stack, including containerized Kubernetes-based microservice architectures, performance testing platform and tools, JS, APMs, messaging services, API gateways.
  • Proficient in functional programming languages (including Python) as well as declarative programming languages (e.g. SQL, MYSQL).
