The position of Database Architect - Cloud Infrastructure is a key role within the News Corp organization, focused on designing and implementing scalable and secure cloud-based database infrastructure.

As a Database Architect, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing multi-node clusters, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery options for MS SQL Server.

You will work closely with the DBA team to design and implement solutions that meet the business requirements, utilizing your expertise in cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.

A key aspect of this role is the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including database integrity, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, and security issues.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the protection and backup of data, meeting business RPO and RTO, and complying with legal regulations.

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Database Architect who can drive best practice designs, promote stability, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable and secure cloud-based database infrastructure
  • Architect and implement multi-node clusters, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery options for MS SQL Server
  • Collaborate with the DBA team to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including database integrity, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, and security issues
  • Ensure the protection and backup of data, meeting business RPO and RTO, and complying with legal regulations

Requirements:

  • 4 years experience as MS-SQL server DBA
  • Core competency on SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2016 in a production environment
  • 4+ years of implementing and managing multi-node clusters
  • Working experience of High Availability (HA), Log shipping, mirroring, replication, clustering and Always on Availability groups and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server. Multi-node clustering is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Always on Availability, SQL Replication, and Microsoft Clustering
  • Good knowledge on resolving performance issues
  • Good understanding of cloud technologies especially AWS
  • Good understanding of homogeneous and heterogeneous database migration
  • Team player and should have good communication skills
  • MCTS/MCSA/AWS SAA certifications a plus
  • Using PowerShell and SQL to automate Installation and configuration of new SQL Servers
  • Qualified to troubleshoot and resolve database integrity, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, and security issues

  • Backup Solutions
  • Troubleshooting system and network performance problems
  • Ability to implement automation and reduce manual administrative tasks
  • Configure SQL Server advance monitoring tools to minimize false alarms

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
