Research Scientist Position

Job Summary:

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Research Scientist to join our team and contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and devices for diseases with a high socio-economic impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programs.
  • Track SAR and optimize potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs.
  • Purify and structurally characterize compounds.
  • Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate lab records and contribute to technical reports.
  • Collaborate with analytical teams as needed.
  • Contribute to intellectual property activities.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • A PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry.
  • Postdoctoral experience in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry (optional).
  • 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on a bench, preferably in an industry.

Technical and Soft Skills:

  • Skill in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation.
  • Proficiency in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others).
  • A high level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature.
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills.
  • An ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder).
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications is required.
