Positions in this function maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead special projects and initiatives within the revenue team related to audits, systems implementations, process creation and improvements, revenue reconciliations, cash flows and reports.
  • Manage and review the monthly financial reconciliations related to various revenue sources for assigned health plans.
  • Lead the process to resolve the exceptions coming out of membership and revenue reconciliations in partnership with the health plans.
  • Recommend accounting entries to the general ledger and set up of accruals/ reserves based on the monthly reconciliations.
  • Manage the monthly billing and accrual process for different revenue sources to ensure accurate financial results within established timeframes.
  • Research and evaluate trends and variances in health care revenues and receivables.
  • Assess and interpret customer needs and requirements.
  • Identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems.
  • Solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses.
  • Work with minimal guidance; seek guidance on only the most complex tasks.
  • Translate concepts into practice.
  • Provide explanations and information to others on difficult issues.
  • Coach, provide feedback, and guide others.
  • Act as a resource for others with less experience.

Stakeholders for the role include UHC Finance Controllership: Associate Directors; Managers and Senior Analysts.

Role Decisions & Impact:
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.
  • Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.
  • Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.
  • Analyze and Prepare financial statements, including Balance sheets and statements of financial position.
  • Assist with or Lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups.
  • Perform work in a self-directed manner and work with less structured, more complex issues.
  • Leverage technology to add controls and eliminate risk from financial processes.
  • Prepare reports and analyses as required in support of the monthly financial closing process and ongoing financial activities.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the revenue team, in consultation with the management.
  • Participate and help in the standardization of revenue analysis and accounting processes across the organization.
  • Prepare analyses required to support timely collection of accounts receivable.
  • Provide internal service and support to project managers and field finance leads on various revenue related financial issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Post graduation in accounting / Finance or its equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare experience in Finance and Accounting.
  • Work experience on GL.
  • Work experience on SAS tool.
