Credit Management Role

Job Overview:

This role is responsible for managing the credit portfolio of a financial institution. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate credit proposals to ensure quality appraisal of worthy borrowers.
  • Approve or reject credit applications within designated authority limits.
  • Follow up with seniors for additional approvals when required.
  • Manage loan portfolio to maintain optimal credit rating/quality.
  • Identify accounts that pose de-risking challenges or are potential loss leaders.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor team productivity and time-to-action (TAT).
  • Ensure adherence to established credit policies and procedures.

Strategic Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Discuss observations with senior management and chief credit officers.
  • Assess credit proposals for each location or region, providing thorough analysis and recommendations.
  • Present key findings and recommendations to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Lead and motivate a team to achieve set goals and objectives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough credit evaluations, adhering to established parameters and guidelines.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports highlighting critical information for senior-level decision-making.
  • Monitor delinquency rates, exceptions, and portfolio movement, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and maintenance for senior management.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in credit evaluation within a bank setting.
