Data Engineering Role Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data platforms using Azure services. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality data solutions that meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

\
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into the Azure data platform.
  • Data Modeling and Warehousing: Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for data warehouses and data lakes, utilizing star schema, snowflake schema, and other techniques to optimize data for analytics and reporting.
  • Data Lake Management: Ensure proper folder structures, security, and data lifecycle management for raw, processed, and curated data zones within Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
  • Azure Service Integration: Integrate and work with various Azure services, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Functions, and Cosmos DB, to build comprehensive data solutions.
  • ETL/ELT Processes: Implement and optimize ETL and ELT processes to ensure efficient and accurate data movement.
  • Security and Governance: Implement data security best practices, applying RBAC, managed identities, and Azure Key Vault to protect sensitive data, while working with Microsoft Purview for data cataloging and governance.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data pipeline performance, queries, and data warehouse solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with key Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, and Databricks.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language, such as Python or Spark (PySpark, Scala).
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, data modeling, and ETL/ELT concepts.
  • CI/CD: Experience with version control systems like Git and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment practices using Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality, reliable data solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
