Senior Python/Data Engineer Role

This is a highly skilled position that requires expertise in designing, building and maintaining Python plugins. These plugins encapsulate business rules and transformation logic for data aggregation/disaggregation, rule-based data enrichment and time-grain manipulation.

The ideal candidate will implement data-cleaning, validation, mapping and merging routines using Pandas, NumPy and other Python libraries to prepare inputs for downstream analytics. They will define clear interfaces and configuration schemes for plugins and package them for easy consumption by implementation teams.

To be successful, the senior engineer must profile and optimize Python code paths leveraging vectorized operations, efficient merges and in-memory transformations to handle large datasets with low latency. They will also establish and enforce coding standards, write comprehensive unit and integration tests with pytest (or similar) and ensure high coverage for all new components.

Additionally, they will triage and resolve issues in legacy scripts, refactor complex routines for readability and extensibility, and manage versioning across releases. Collaboration with data engineers and analysts to capture requirements, document plugin behaviors, configuration parameters and usage examples in code repositories or internal wikis is essential for this role.
