Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programs.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field, as well as 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on the bench, preferably in an industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programs.
  • Tracking SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs.
  • Purifying and structurally characterizing compounds.
  • Troubleshooting synthetic problems and optimizing reaction conditions.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues.
  • Maintaining accurate lab records and contributing to technical reports.
  • Collaborating with analytical teams as needed.
  • Providing input on intellectual property activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Strong knowledge of multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation.
  • Proficiency in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others).
  • A high level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature.
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder).
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications.
